US, India Hold Anti-terror Talks in Washington

US and Indian anti-terrorism experts on Friday ended two days of talks in Washington on how to further enhance bilateral cooperation in fighting terrorism.

US and Indian anti-terrorism experts on Friday ended two days of talks in Washington on how to further enhance bilateral cooperation in fighting terrorism.

"The two sides agreed to further intensify intelligence sharingand coordinate action in pursuit of the remains of al Qaeda members and associated terrorist groups," participants told reporters at a joint press conference.

"The delegations also discussed the nexus between weapons of mass destruction, proliferation and terrorism," they said, adding that the past year has been a watershed for the two countries in combating terror.

The two-day talks in Washington was the fifth working meeting of the US-India joint working group on counter-terrorism, which agreed to hold its sixth meeting in New Delhi early next year.

The US team was headed by State Department Coordinator for Counter-terrorism, while the Indian side was led by Jayant Prasad,joint secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
