Probe of Fatal Gold Mine Blast Continues, No More Bodies Found

Experts probing a gold mine explosion in Shanxi Province revealed on Friday that no more bodies had been found underground, but the cause of the tragedy awaited further investigation.

Experts probing a gold mine explosion in Shanxi Province revealed on Friday that no more bodies had been found underground, but the cause of the tragedy awaited further investigation.

The blast at the Yixingzhai Gold Mine on June 22 claimed 37 lives.

The cause of the blast was difficult to determine meanwhile, asthe mine owner in an attempt to cover up the accident had destroyed underground evidence by filling in the pit and burying those killed, according to experts.

To search for clues to the cause of the explosion the pit needed to be cleared again, said a technical official in charge ofthe investigation.
