China beats U.S.A. 3-0 in Women Volleyball Grand Prix

China beat the United States in straight sets of 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 in the first leg of the World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament on Saturday.

China beat the United States in straight sets of 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 in the first leg of the World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament on Saturday.

The Chinese spikers made full use of their on-the-net advantageand spent only one hour before defeating the their American opponents 3-0.

Chinese setter Feng Kun, spikers Yang Hao and Zhao Ruirui formed up a powerful force in offense, while the 1.96m-tall Zhao also shone with her unbeatable blocks in defense.

"The U.S. team has always been strong and they are defending champions at the Grand Prix. But they didn't play well tonight perhaps due to the time difference." said Chen Zhonghe, head coachof China.

"The Americans first lost 3-1 to South Korea last year but wenton to win the Grand Prix. We had a full preparation before this match, and our blocks put them under great pressure that ruins their offense Chen added.

U.S. coach Toskiaki Yoshida commented the match as the worst inhis coaching career, and said the team lost to host China in everyaspect. Not a single U.S. player did a good job.

China, Cuba, Russia and the United States are competing in thisyear's Grand Prix tournament first leg in Chengdu, China. The finals of the competitions will be held in China's Hong Kong on August 4.
