Nepalese king visits Three Gorges dam project

Visiting NepaleseKing Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and his party on Saturday visited the on-going gigantic Three Gorges dam project on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

The Nepalese king, who arrived Saturday morning in Yichang, a city in central China's Hubei province near the dam, also wrote anepigraph extending his best wishes for the success of the world-renowned hydroelectric power project.

He planted a rare China fir, which is native to the Three Gorges area, in a park by the Yangtze River, saying he hoped that it would be a symbol of the everlasting friendship between Nepal and China.

King Gyanendra was greeted by Provincial Governor Zhang Guoguang, who traveled to Yichang to meet the Nepalese king.
