A special group of 15 Taiwanese students graduate with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) diploma on Saturday at the renowned Nankai University in Tianjin, north China.

The university took the lead in China in setting up a special MBA course for Taiwanese students in 1996.

The 15 graduates, from different business backgrounds and social strata in Taiwan, took such MBA subjects as business management, law and accounting over the past three years. During that period of time they were also able to return home to run their own businesses.

The new graduates expressed their gratitude at today's graduation ceremony for being allowed to study at the university, saying they had reaped a good harvest with the help of experts.

The MBA class has attracted more and more Taiwanese students inrecent years. Nearly 60 Taiwanese candidates applied this year, ofwhom only 27 were finally enrolled, according to Li Wei'an, professor in international business.

Apart from the usual MBA curriculum, Taiwanese students can also study the current investment system on the Chinese mainland so in their future careers they would help to improve business exchanges across the Taiwan Strait, said Li.
