Japan Airlines (JAL) and Japan Air System (JAS) plan to integrate their marketing divisions into a new ticket sales company in October in a move to coincide with their business integration, Japan's Kyodo News reported on Monday.

The new company, tentatively called JAL Sales, will take over ticket sales operations by a JAL subsidiary and those by JAS and come under a joint holding company to be set up in October by JAL and JAS, Kyodo said.

JAL and JAS also plan to unify their discount sales operations and introduce discount tickets for all domestic flights competing with All Nippon Airways (ANA) and other airlines, it said.

They intend to share automatic check-in systems so passengers of either carrier can use both.

JAL and JAS are scheduled to formally announce details of the marketing integration as early as Monday, according to Kyodo.

The two carriers are to integrate their businesses by the spring of 2004 under the holding company.
