China Crush Italy for First Win in World League Volleyball

China upset home side with a straight sets victory in a Pool B match on Sunday in the men's volleyball World League at Pesaro, Italy, which was the first win for China in this season's series.

China upset home side with a straight sets victory in a Pool B match on Sunday in the men's volleyball World League at Pesaro, Italy, which was the first win for China in this season's series.

And the Chinese victory snapped the Italians' winning streak sofar in this year's series.

In an earlier match in the Italian city Chiety, Italy overcame a poor start to defeat China three sets to one, for their fifth win in the Intercontinental Rounds of the League.

In their match in Pesaro, China upset pre-game expectations to defeat the home side 25-23, 25-23 and 27-25. China displayed muchmore rhythm and concentration than the Italians, leading throughout the match.

China had lost twice to both Italy and Spain in the two earlierrounds and were ranked third in the group.

China will face Spain back home at Beijing in the fourth round.Spain had been unbeaten so far in the World League.

ITALY beat China 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-21

Spain bt VENEZUELA 25-18, 25-23, 25-16

July 14

Spain bt VENEZUELA 26-24, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22

China bt ITALY 25-23, 25-23, 27-25
