Mubarak Keen on Sino-Egyptian High-tech Cooperation

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said on Thursday that the Egyptian government attaches great importance to Sino-Egyptian high-technology cooperation.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Thursday that the Egyptian government attaches great importance to Sino-Egyptian high-technology cooperation.

Mubarak made the remark during a meeting with a delegation from the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, which is led by its Mayor YuYoujun.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yu said during the meeting, President Mubarak recalled his visit to Shenzhen during his visit to China in January, and said he was deeply impressed by Shenzhen's rapid economic growth and booming high-tech enterprises in the city.

President Mubarak said he issued directives to various government departments to conduct "full cooperation" with their Chinese counterparts in the high-tech sector, Yu said.

For his part, Yu said during the meeting he briefed Mubarak on the results of his delegation's visit to Egypt, adding the president was pleased to hear that Shenzhen will engage in cooperation with various Egyptian departments in the areas of information technology, agriculture, biological pharmacy and new energy.

Yu said he told the host that a group of business leaders from high-technology enterprises in Shenzhen will visit Egypt next year,and Shenzhen will organize an exhibition of high-technology products in Cairo next year.

Yu said he also invited President Mubarak to visit Shenzhen during his visit to China next time.

The Chinese delegation arrived here on Sunday for a six-day visit to Egypt.

On Monday, the delegation visited the Mubarak City of Science near the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, during which it signed four agreements with Egypt on cooperation in areas of new energy, telecommunications and agriculture.
