Bridge Collapse Kills Nine in Central China
A bridge in Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei Province, collapsed Thursday evening, killing nine people and injuring 12 others.

Province, collapsed Thursday evening, killing nine people and injuring 12 others.
The victims were out strolling in the evening in Daokou Village,Taoxian City, when the 48-meter, single-arch stone bridge gave away, throwing 20 villagers into the river.
Most of the dead were citizens aged over 50. Their bodies were retrieved by a rescue team organized by the local government.
The other 12 were hospitalized soon after the accident and are reportedly out of danger.
Investigations into why the 29-year-old bridge collapsed are ongoing.
