The dead from the crash late Friday included 25 Saudi bus passengers and the Syrian truck driver died in the crash, police said. They did not give details on the circumstances of the crash.

Some of the 24 injured were hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

Road accidents occur frequently in the Gulf kingdom mainly because of speeding. Official figures say more than 35,000 people have been killed and 200,000 injured in vehicle accidents during the last decade.
