Chinese Customs Cracked down 5322 Smuggling Cases in First Half Year

Customs officials seized 5,322 smuggling cases in the first half of this year, with goods involved worth RMB 2.6 billion yuan, a decrease of 12.5% and 0.3%, respectively as against the same period of last year, according to General Administration of Customs (GAC).

Customs officials seized 5,322 smuggling cases in the first half of this year, with goods involved worth RMB 2.6 billion yuan, a decrease of 12.5% and 0.3%, respectively as against the same period of last year, according to General Administration of Customs (GAC).

Customs collected 382 million-yuan with some 1,700 suspect smugglers arrested.

According to the GAC, big cases with goods value above 10 million yuan reached 56 in the first half of this year, and 3 big cases are involved in 100 million yuan.

The increase in big smuggling cases indicates that smuggling gangs are still very tricky, covert and frenzy in action.
