The mercury hit 38 degrees Celsius as Harry Kewell started Leeds' scoring binge at the beginning of the lopsided game.
Mark Viduka scored in the 25th minute and Leeds star Robbie Fowler made it 3-0 at the 56th.
Danny Mills put Leeds 4-0 ahead in the 75th minute before the host converted a controversial penalty.
Fowler scored his second goal in the 83rd minute, curling a long shot into an open net.
