China Earns US$9.523bn from Inbound Tourism

The number of overseas visitors to China in the first half of this year reached around 46.83 million (person/time), growing by 9.34 percent year-on-year and an increase rate of 2.47 percentage points.

The number of overseas visitors to China in the first half of this year reached around 46.83 million (person/time), growing by 9.34 percent year-on-year and an increase rate of 2.47 percentage points.

Statistics from the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) show that of the inbound tourists to China in the first six months of this year, around 6.14 million were foreigners, an increase of 15.96 percent; 29.95 million were Hong Kong compatriots, rising by 4.46 percent; around 8.95 million were Macao compatriots, growing by 25.44 percent; and around 1.78 million were Taiwan compatriots, a 3.62 percent rise.

Foreign visitors from various continents kept growing in the same period of this year, with continents witnessing a double-digit growth of tourists including Asia, America, Oceania, and Africa .

The number of inbound visitors from 15 major tourist-source countries also saw different degrees of growth, countries with a double-digit growth rate included the ROK, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Britain, the United States and Canada.

In the first half of this year, the country's foreign exchange income from tourism totaled US$9.523 billion, up 11.78 percent year-on-year.
