an President Robert Mugabe said on Thursday that plans to establish a Zimbabwean mission in
Iran
have reached an advanced stage.
"The reality of establishing a Zimbabwean mission in Iran will make the relations intimate," said Mugabe.
The president was speaking after bidding farewell to outgoing Iranian ambassador Behrooz Kamalvandi.
The relations between Zimbabwe and Iran, Mugabe said, remained very good and were getting closer and closer.
Kamalvandi said there are a number of projects in various fields that his country will be initiating in Zimbabwe to strengthen the countries' bilateral relations.
Some of the projects, he said, included irrigation programs in semi-arid areas of the country.
"We want to assist in this field because the problem the country is facing is how to best use the water resources it has," Kamalvandi said.
"There is a great possibility for developing equipment for irrigation depending on what Zimbabwe wants," he said.
