Foreign ministers from the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) began their annual talks in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei on Monday to discuss the fight against terrorism, regional economic recovery and other pressing issues.

The 35th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM), held in a hilltop convention center in the Brunei capital, has a theme of "Responding Challenges, Seeking A Better Future."

At the two-day meeting, the ministers are expected to reaffirm their firm determination to fight terrorism in a bid to change the perception that the region is a hotbed for terrorist activities.

They will also take up other challenges facing the region, including economic reforms much-needed for a full recovery, and security concerns such as heightened tensions on the divided Korean Peninsula.

ASEAN comprises Brunei, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar.
