Eleven Chinese Military Officers Promoted to General

China's Central Military Commission (CMC) recently conferred the rank of general on eleven senior military officers from the military area command of Guangzhou. CMC chairman Jiang Zemin signed the promotion order.

China's Central Military Commission (CMC) recently conferred the rank of general on eleven senior military officers from the military area command of Guangzhou. CMC chairman Jiang Zemin signed the promotion order.

A rank-award ceremony was held on July 30 in Guangzhou, chaired by Liu Zhenwu, commander of the area. Political commissar Liu Shutian announced CMC's promotion order and awarded the officers certificates of command at the ceremony.

Among the eleven promoted officers, Zhou Yuqi, director of the political department of the military area command of Guangzhou, was promoted from major general to lieutenant general, and the other 10 officers were promoted from senior colonel to major general.
