Chinese FM Arrives in S.Korea for Two-day Visit

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan arrived at the Incheon International Airporton Friday afternoon to begin his two-day formal visit to the Republic of Korea.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan arrived at the Incheon International Airporton Friday afternoon to begin his two-day formal visit to the Republic of Korea.

Later, he will meet with his South Korean counterpart Choi Sung-hong in Seoul. They are expected to exchange views on bilateral ties and the situation in the Korean Peninsula.

Tang will also pay a courtesy call on South Korean President Kim Dae-jung on Saturday morning. Besides, he is scheduled to meetNational Assembly speaker Park Kwan-yong and other political leaders, including opposition Grand National Party presidential nominee Lee Hoi-chang and Millennium Democratic Party presidentialcandidate Roh Moo-hyun.

Tang is scheduled to leave South Korea on Saturday afternoon, after looking around the World Cup Stadium.

Tang's visit here came amid the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-South Korea diplomatic ties and the resumption of the inter-Korean talks lately.

The Chinese foreign minister came here from Brunei after attending a series of events including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Plus China, Japan and South Korea (10+3) meeting on July 30, ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) on July 31, and the Post Ministerial Meetings (PMCs) on Aug. 1.
