Network Equipment Joint Venture Opens in Shanghai

A network equipment joint venture set up by Taiwanese and mainland companies was set up here Saturday.

A network equipment joint venture set up by Taiwanese and mainland companies was set up here Saturday.

With a total investment of 25 million US dollars, the joint venture was funded by the Taiwan-based Accton Technology Corp. and Shanghai General Electronics Co.

The joint venture will mainly produce network communications products with high added value, including modems and network switches.

The new company is expected to generate 80 million US dollars in sales during its first year of operation, and 400 million US dollars in three years.

This would make it the leading producer of network communications products in Asia.

Accton is a major developer and producer of such product in theworld.
