Missing Chinese Girl Found Safe in US East Coast

A 12-year-old Chinese girl missing in the US western coastal city of San Francisco since Thursday was found Saturday sound and safe at the home of her relatives on the East Coast, police in San Mateo County said.

Jia Yukun, who became separated from a Chinese youth tour group at the San Francisco International Airport Thursday afternoon, wasstaying with her relatives on the East Coast, said Bronwyn Hogan, spokeswoman for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department. "She issafe with relatives, and in good spirits."

Hogan said Jia was found by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on a tip, but she declined to disclose which city Jia is staying in.

Jia's missing was not discovered until the guide of the group, which was scheduled to visit the Space Camp in Alabama, took a head count at the end of their tour of Stanford University.

The tour group, made up of 28 young people from Beijing and their adult guides, landed at the San Francisco International Airport at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time Thursday.

Police in San Francisco and San Mateo County had conducted a massive search for Jia in the airport area in the past two days.
