Fuel filling for Unit 1 of Qinshan Phase 3 has been completed lately after more than 10 days of joint efforts by Chinese and Canadian technicians.

This signals another landmark achievement in which the Unit 1 of China's another nuclear power plant is being operated for commercial purposes.

Qinshan Phase 3 consists of two Canadian 728 MWe Candu-6 PHWR with a designed life expectancy of 40 years.

Since Unit 1 began its construction on 8 June, 1998, the project has been going on smoothly, Chinese and Canadian sides are cooperating very well.

According to plan, the Unit 1 will be powered in November and be put into full operation by the end of the year.
