New Government Formed in Cote d'Ivoire

The Cote d'Ivoire presidency Monday announced a new broad-based government which includes the main opposition Rally of Republicans (RDR), local radio reported.

The Cote d'Ivoire presidency Monday announced a new broad-based government which includes the main opposition Rally of Republicans (RDR), local radio reported.

The RDR has four portfolios in the new government formed at the initiative of President Laurent Gbagbo.

The new 37-strong cabinet has 20 ministers from Gbagbo's Ivorian Popular Front (FPI), with Pascal Affi N'Guessan retaining his position as prime minister.

The former ruling Democratic Party of Ivory Coast (PDCI) has seven ministers in the new government.
