HK Govt Awards Penny's Bay Contract to China State Construction Engineering (HK) Limited

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has signed a contract with the China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited for the construction of the second set of infrastructure for Penny's Bay Development, a government release said Tuesday.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has signed a contract with the China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited for the construction of the second set of infrastructure for Penny's Bay Development, a government release said Tuesday.

The contract, costing a total of 1.38 billion HK dollars (177 million US dollars), covers the decommissioning of the former Cheoy Lee Shipyard, the site formation on 20 hectares of land andthe construction of 3.9 kilometers of roads and vehicular bridges,along with drainage and sewerage works.

The contract also involves the construction of an arboretum anda tree farm in the public water recreation center.

The project's construction, which will start immediately, is due to complete by mid-2005.
