17 Killed, 24 Injured During Explosion in Bogota

A total of 17 people were killed and 24 other seriously injured in three bombing attacks in downtown Bogota on Wednesday.

A total of 17 people were killed and 24 other seriously injured in three bombing attacks in downtown Bogota on Wednesday.

These attacks occurred while the new Colombian President, Alvaro Uribe, was in Congress.

According to Interior Minister Soraya Montoya, the explosions produced by rocket attacks took place near Casa de Narino, the Presidential Palace, bring about a number of injuries.

Nearby, a bomb exploded by the Coroner's office, leaving 17 dead.

Downtown Bogota had been militarized to prevent further guerrilla attacks.
