Turkey Kicks Off Election Period

Under Turkey's election schedule, published by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) in the Official Gazette, the election period began on Wednesday.

Under Turkey's election schedule, published by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) in the Official Gazette, the election period began on Wednesday.

The period will last until the election day on Nov. 3. The election calendar determined by the YSK also started to operate thesame day.

Public employees who will run candidacy in the elections will apply to leave their jobs till Aug. 8. Political parties will inform the YSK about the principles and rules that determine their candidates in election districts until Aug. 9.

According to an earlier YSK announcement, 23 out of the 48 political parties in Turkey are qualified to run in the elections.
