Legend Group Reports 15.3 Pecent Increase in Profits

Legend Group Ltd. (HKEX: 992) announced on Wednesday its profits for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2002-03 were 268 million HK dollars (34 million US dollars), a 15.3 percent increase over the same period last year.

Legend Group Ltd. (HKEX: 992) announced on Wednesday its profits for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2002-03 were 268 million HK dollars (34 million US dollars), a 15.3 percent increase over the same period last year.

President and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Yang Yuanqing, has attributed more profits to increased sales of servers, pocket PCs and PDAs.

The unit shipment of servers rose 58 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, while the unit shipment of pocket PCs and PDAs grew 48 percent.

Yang said that during the second quarter ending in June, China's PC market has been developing steadily and the competitive environment has eased a little when compared with the same quarterof last year.
