It is the first time for such a high-level tennis competition to be held in Asia and in a developing country. Only the top eightplayers on the ATP rankings this year are qualified for the 3.70 million US dollars tournament set for November 12-17 in Shanghai, China.

The 12 group matches and two semi-finals will be played on the best-of-three sets, and the final will be on the best-of-five. Allthe group matches will start at 4:00 pm (local time), and the semi-finals and the final at 3:00 pm (local time).

The main referees of the matches all have the experiences in refereeing in the four Grand Opens. And some Chinese referees may act as linesmen.

The main court features 10,000 seats and 230 balconies and categorically meets the standard for international tennis competition.
