Visiting Sudanese Health Minister Ahmed Ballal Osman on Monday voiced his country's solidarity with Iraq against US war threats, the official Iraqi News Agency reported.

During a meeting with Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Osman said the Sudanese people "are standing alongside with the Iraqi people in their confrontation with the American plans," referring to the US administration's threats to attack Iraq for allegedly pursuing weapons of mass destruction programs.

The Iraqi leader (Saddam Hussein) that US President George W. Bush wants to topple is widely popular in Sudan, Osman said.

Bush has branded Iraq as part of an "axis of evil," along with Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and accused them of developing weapons of mass destruction and supporting terrorism.

He has repeatedly vowed to achieve a "regime change" in Iraq by all the possible tools, including military actions.
