2002 Forum on Network Media of China Opens in Suzhou

The 2nd Forum on Network Media opened Friday in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, with participation in the three-day conference from more than 300 government officials, media and Internet leaders, and experts.

The 2nd Forum on Network Media opened Friday in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, with participation in the three-day conference from more than 300 government officials, Internet media leaders, and experts.

The forum focuses on Internet media operations, management and development trends, new technology applications and how to utilize the Internet as a news and media source.

An agreement pledging the protection of Internet copyrights will be signed to fight plagiarism and standardize information exchanges.

Cai Mingzhao, deputy director of the Information Office of the State Council, Wang Chen, editor-in-chief of People's Daily, and Shao Huaze, Chairman of the All-China Journalists Association delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

The forum is cohosted by the All-China Journalists Association, People's Daily Online, Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, CNNIC, China Internet Association and other websites from accross the country.

The first forum on the Internet media was held last year in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province.
