China and Argentina signed three trade inspection and quarantine protocols on agricultural-livestock products on Friday.

The three documents prescribed cooperation between the two countries on inspection and quarantine of China's pork exports to Argentina, and Argentina's exports of poultry meat and diary products to China.

The protocols were signed by Li Changjiang, visiting director-general of China's State Administration of Quality Supervision andQuarantine, and Haroldo Lebed, Argentine secretary of state for agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

Sino-Argentine relations have enjoyed smooth development, and cooperation in the economic and trade sectors has developed continuously in recent years, Li said after the signing ceremony.

The signing of the agreements is of great significance in promoting trade in agricultural-livestock products between China and Argentina under the framework of the World Trade Organization,he added.

Describing the protocols as the "most important" economic and trade cooperation agreements with other countries since the present government took office in May this year, Martin Redrado, Argentine secretary of state for international economic relations, said the accords will help promote the development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
