The joint inter-Korean Liberation Day festival ended its two-day agenda Friday with a closing ceremony at the Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel in Seoul.

The joint inter-Korean Liberation Day festival ended its two-day agenda Friday with a closing ceremony at the Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel in Seoul.

More than 500 delegates from the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) shouted the slogan "Unification of the Fatherland" as they watched a "Korean Peninsula flag."

Hyok-pil, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Reconciliation Council, declared the closing of the inter-Korean festival, and the DPRK delegates shook hands with ROK delegates.

"We wrote another page of a great history," said Baek Do-ung, general secretary of the National Council of Churches in South Korea in a closing speech.

"We have been able to confirm that our hearts are linked as an undivided nation, and I am confident that our beloved country willsee the bright morning of national reunification," said Jang Jae-on, chairman of the DPRK's Religionists' Council.

The two sides agreed to have various inter-Korean civilian meetings in September and October.

The DPRK delegation visited the Changdeok Palace, a royal residence of the Joseon Dynasty in central Seoul, in the afternoonand attended a farewell banquet hosted by the South Korean organizers in the evening.

The civic communication just ended after the seventh inter-Korean ministerial talks, in which the two sides reached consensuson about ten issues.

The DPRK delegation will return to Pyongyang aboard an Air Koryo flight via the inter-Korea direct air route Saturday morning.
