Chinese Navy Squadron Wraps up Visit to Peru

A Chinese navy squadron wrapped up its five-day visit to Peru and left the harbor of Callao for France on Saturday morning.

A Chinese navy squadron wrapped up its five-day visit to Peru and left the harbor of Callao for France on Saturday morning.

The two-vessel squadron, comprising the guided missile destroyer Qingdao and the supply ship Taicang, was seen off by Rear Admiral of the Peruvian Navy Arturo Piedra, together with about 1,000 Chinese living in Peru.

During the visit, commander of the squadron, Rear Admiral Ding Yiping held talks with Peruvian Defense Minister Aurelio Loret de Mola Bohme and other senior military officials. Both sides pledged to boost cooperation and exchanges so as to make new contributions to world peace and stability.

Peru is the ninth leg of the global voyage of the Chinese navy squadron. Before its arrival in Peru, it had visited Singapore, Egypt, Turkey, Ukraine, Greece, Portugal, Brazil and Ecuador.
