Iran, Germany Sign Agreement on Investment Promotion

Iran and Germany signed an agreement on Saturday to encourage efforts to promote investment in both countries, the Iranian official news agency IRNA reported Sunday.

Iran and Germany signed an agreement on Saturday to encourage efforts to promote investment in both countries, the Iranian official news agency IRNA reported Sunday.

The agreement, which was inked during a visit to Iran by German Minister of Economy and Technology Werner Mueller, is expected to increase trade cooperation between the two countries.

Commenting on the agreement, Mueller said the agreement showed the fact that a new horizon has opened in the Iran-EU cooperation.

He said Germany has been supporting improved relations between Iran and the European Union, while expressing hopes that the agreement would contribute to these relations.

Mueller said there are "good" perspectives for German investments in Iran, adding that German companies could invest in Iran's infrastructural projects, such as electric power plants, andother alternative industry structures.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the agreement, Iran's Minister of Economy and Finance Tahmasb Mazaheri expressed hope that the agreement would provide better grounds for bilateral tradeand economic cooperation.
