Chinese, Tanzanian Military Leaders Hold Talks

Fu Quanyou, Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, held talks with General George Waitara of Tanzania People's Defense Forces in Beijing on Monday.

Fu Quanyou, Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, held talks with General George Waitara of Tanzania People's Defense Forces in Beijing on Monday.

Fu, a member of the Central Military Commission, said as developing countries, China and Tanzania shared common ground on many important international issues. China appreciated Tanzania's adherence to the "one-China" policy and its firm support for China's human rights issues.

Relations between the two military forces had progressed satisfactorily with exchanges of high-level visits, Fu said, noting that the PLA valued friendly cooperative relations with theTanzanian military and was keen to boost exchanges and cooperation.

Waitara said the friendship between the two countries and theirmilitary forces was forged in the struggle for world peace. For more than 30 years, the friendship between the two armies had broadened through exchanging visits and cooperation. Tanzania's stability and progress was attributed to China's great help. He reiterated that Tanzania consistently adhered to the "one-China" policy.
