Shanghai Mayor Meets Russian PM

Shanghai Mayor Chen Liangyu said Thursday that Shanghai hopes to keep expanding cooperation and contacts with Russia.

Shanghai Mayor Chen Liangyu said Thursday that Shanghai hopes to keep expanding cooperation and contacts with Russia.

Chen made the remarks during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, who is here for the Seventh Regular Meeting of the two countries' prime ministers.

After Shanghai and St. Petersburg forged friendly ties, their contacts and cooperation have been expanding, Chen said. Trade between Shanghai and Russia has grown quickly.

Kasyanov said he was deeply impressed by the rapid development of Shanghai and the hospitality of its people. Trade and economic cooperation should be encouraged, he said.
