United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan arrived Luanda Sunday for a 48-hour visit to witness the ongoing Angolan peace process.

After the arrival in International Airport of Luanda, Annan said that he will hold fructiferous and constructive discussions with Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

The Angolan government and former rebel National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) pledged last Friday to wind up the Lusaka Protocol within 45 days.

The winding-up work for the peace agreement will take off Monday in the presence of Annan.

Annan also said that he will visit UN projects in Angola.

According to official sources, Annan will address a news conference at International Airport before his departure to South Africa where he will attend the World Summit on Sustainable Development due to take place from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4 in Johannesburg.

This is the second time for Annan to visit Angola. The first one took place in April 1997, when the Angolan government of unityand national reconciliation was sworn in.
