South China Province Reports Surging Foreign Trade

Hainan Province in south China has come out of its first half of the year foreign trade slump, registering a total of 225 million US dollars of exports and imports in July.

Hainan Province in south China has come out of its first half of the year foreign trade slump, registering a total of 225 million US dollars of exports and imports in July.

The volume was 71.5 percent up from the same period last year, said local customs sources.

The province also managed a 4.41 percent increase in imports and exports in the first seven months of the year compared with the same period last year.

According to customs sources, overseas-financed businesses in Hainan did 440 million US dollars worth of imports and exports from January to July, up 30 percent year-on-year.

The export and import of machinery and electronic products totaled 328 million US dollars in the first seven months of the year, up 66.1 percent year-on-year.

The province's imports include aircraft and components, as well as machinery, while the province's exports are mainly engines and spare parts, motor vehicles and components, and aquatic products.
