Veterans Stage Performance to Embrace Party congress

Veterans from the central government departments staged a variety of performances Friday night to welcome the upcoming 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Veterans from the central government departments staged a variety of performances Friday night to welcome the upcoming 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, watched the performance along with an audience of more than 1,000 people.

Performing on the stage were 357 retired officials, researchers,and artists, who had contributed to the national liberation and construction. Their average age was 70 and the oldest was 78.
