Russia drew it 1-1 in the 56th minute when Natalia Barbachina headed in a Svetlana Sedakova's cross pass. Seven minutes later, China's forward Ren Liping headed in the winner in a meelee.
China's head coach, Ma Liangxing put his team's win to good luck. He said "The main reason for our win is very simple -- luckis with us. Russia is a very good team and they hit the crossbar twice in the match."
Russia's head coach Yury Bystriskiy complained nothing about his team's loss. "China deserved the win. We built a packed defence to couter their attack. In spite of this, they still scored two goals. We have no complaints after losing to such a skillful team," he said.
