Two Arab residents of East Jerusalem were indicted Monday for attempting to recruit Israeli female soldiers as spies for the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

Israel Radio reported that the two Arabs, who allegedly served as agents for the PNA Preventive Security Service, had been arrested by the Israeli General Security Service, or Shin Bet.

Raed Ismael Zitawi and Moussa Yassin Salman, from the East Jerusalem village of Beit Zefafa, were charged with trying to recruit four female soldiers and girls ready for military service to collect information about the Israel Defense Forces.

The episode, which took place three years ago, was uncovered after Israeli army seized Palestinian documents during military operations in the West Bank in April, the radio said.
