"The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Insights Forum", organized by the "Business Week" magazine, began here on Monday, attracting some 100 government officials and corporate heads from China's mainland, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and various other Asian countries.

The forum focuses primarily on the impact of globalization on the Asian market and on its enterprises and will also explore strategies for handling problems emerging from globalization.

Participants agreed at Monday's meeting that Asian markets will continue to experience difficulties due to the sluggish world economy and the complex political environment. Meanwhile, there may be new opportunities as a result of financial market reforms carried out by Asian countries following the Asian financial crisis.

The forum also examines the role of CEOs in today's business environment, competition for human resources and the importance of applying electronic technologies in business activities.

Previous Business Week forums have attracted a total of approximately 15,000 Asian policy makers, business leaders and senior managers over the past six years.
