Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Monday that Europe was worried about the direction of US policy on Iraq.

"There is great concern in all of Europe over the possibility of unilateral action by the U.S. in Iraq," Berlusconi said at a press conference in Johannesburg, where he is attending the Earth summit.

"I will use my authority to invite the U.S. to reflect," he continued, adding that he saw it as a duty for Europeans to express their doubts to President George W. Bush.

Berlusconi added that Iraq should allow United Nations arms inspectors back into the country without any conditions.
