Beijing Reception Commemorates Founding of DPRK

A reception was held Thursday to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

A reception was held Thursday to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The event was co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the China-DPRK Friendship Society.

Chen Haosu, President of the CPAFFC, said China and the DPRK cherish a deep friendship, adding that the further development of bilateral ties remains a firm policy of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government.

He said China welcomes the relaxation of tensions in the Korean peninsula and looks forward to an early and peaceful reunification there.

DPRK Ambassador to China, Choe Jin Su, said the DPRK-China friendship is a "treasure" for both countries, adding that their strong bond will advance steadily into the future, in spite of any potential vicissitude in the world.
