HK Crime Rate Falls in 2001
The overall number of crimes in Hong Kong decreased in 2001, according to the Fight Crime Committee (FCC) Saturday.

The overall number of crimes in
Hong Kong
decreased in 2001, according to the Fight Crime Committee (FCC) Saturday.
Apart from 1997 and 1998, the crime rate in 2001 was the lowest in the past 28 years. In addition, the overall detection rate of 44 percent compared favorably with other major cities.
The number of violent crimes has dropped in 2001, mainly due tothe reduction in the number of crimes such as wounding and indecent assault, robbery and criminal intimidation.
There was a drop of 4.4 percent in the number of young drug abusers in 2001, it said.
