The international community should firmly condemn and fight terrorism, no matter when and where it occurs, who is responsible or who is the victim, China announced Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said on the eve of the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks that the Chinese government reiterated that China firmly condemned terrorist activities.

The Chinese government again extended condolences to the victims of the terror attacks, and to the relatives of those who died.

September 11 was a day which alarmed and warned the world that terrorism was a common enemy to all people and a serious threat toworld peace and stability, he said.

In the past year, all countries had joined in the anti-terrorism campaign, which had achieved positive results, said Kong. However, as the campaign was long-term, the international community should strengthen cooperation and coordination to establish a comprehensive strategy based on the Charter of the United Nations.

He said the Chinese government always believed that the fight against terrorism should avoid connecting terrorism to a specific country, nationality or religion.
