A visiting Tibetan delegation, participating in the ongoing China's Tibetan Culture Week, Tuesday paid a visit to European Parliament and held a cordial and frank discussion with some Parliament members on Tibet issues.

Phudorji, vice-chairman of the People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region, firstly briefed the social and economic development in Tibet in recent years. He said that it is a good opportunity to have direct dialogue with the MEPs (members of European Parliament) who are concerned with the development in Tibet.

Per Gahrton, vice-president of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China, recalled his visit to Tibet early this year and said he was glad to see the existence and preservation of Tibetan language and Tibetan culture there.

British MEP Inglewood said that many Europeans have great interest in Tibet and he believed the culture week would contribute to the spreading the Tibetan culture and to the improvement of the knowledge of the current development of the Tibetan society.

Vice-President of the European Parliament Joan Colom and several other MEPs joined the discussion.

The Tibetan cultural week, which kicked off here Monday, is to present a wide variety of programs depicting the social and religious developments in Tibet.
