The second inter-Korean government-level talks began its fist plenary session at Mount Geumgang in Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Wednesday morning.

The talks between South Korean and DPRK are designed to discuss measures to revive the Mount Geumgang tour project sponsored by South Korean big business group Hyundai, reported South Korean national news agency Yonhap News.

The South Korean delegation reportedly will focus on such issues as designating the resort area as a special tourist zone and opening an overland route to the resort.

Currently, South Korean tourists can only travel to the resort by ship. The South Korea has been demanding the opening of a land route to Mount Geumgang, a road that can only be opened if the twosides connect a 1.5-kilometer section inside the demilitarized zone.

Should the resort be designated a special tourist zone, Hyundaiis expected to make greater investments in recreation facilities such as golf courses and ski resorts in the area, said Yonhap.

The three-member South Korean delegation along with 24 other staff members and journalists arrived Tuesday evening aboard the cruise liner "Solbong-ho" from the South Korean port city of Sokcho on the east coast, added Yonhap.

The inter-Korean negotiations will end Thursday.
