CPPCC Chairman Meets Nepalese Visitors

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met here Thursday with Dr. Keshar Jung Rayamajhi, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Nepalese State Council, and his delegation.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met here Thursday with Dr. Keshar Jung Rayamajhi, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Nepalese State Council, and his delegation.

Noting that China and Nepal are neighbors with a long history of friendly relations, Li said the two countries have followed thefive principles of peaceful co-existence and bilateral ties have been always good despite their different social systems and historical and cultural backgrounds.

He expressed the belief that Rayamajhi's visit will surely deepen his understanding of China and promote the growth of bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Rayamajhi voiced his hope that the Nepalese State Council and the CPPCC will continue their efforts to strengthen exchanges.

He reiterated Nepal's "one-China" policy and support for China's position on the issue of Tibet.

Li expressed his appreciation for Nepal's firm support and cooperation on this issue.

China supported Nepal's efforts to develop its economy, improvepeople's living standards and safeguard stability, Li said.

Rayamajhi and his party arrived here on Sept. 10 for a one-weekvisit as the CPPCC's guest.
