Typhoon Hagupit Brings Timely Rain to South China

Typhoon Hagupit, the 18th tropical storm this season, struck south China's Guangdong province at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday and brought a timely rainfall tothe drought-affected western part of the province.

Typhoon Hagupit, the 18th tropical storm this season, struck south China's Guangdong province at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday and brought a timely rainfall tothe drought-affected western part of the province.

Local sources show the storm caused direct economic losses of 119,400,000 yuan (14,400,000 U.S. dollars) among the population of777,600. So far no casualties have been reported.

The typhoon later swept over Maoming city, ending its hot and dry weather.
