World Sports Medicine Congress Opens in Mexico

Specialists from Mexican and foreign universities Friday inaugurated at the western state of Colima the 2nd World Congress of Post-Degree Studies on Sports Medicine.

Specialists from Mexican and foreign universities Friday inaugurated at the western state of Colima the 2nd World Congress of Post-Degree Studies on Sports Medicine.

Carlos Salazar, rector of the University of Colima, said in theinauguration "it is within universities that research on sport - as a physical and mental development discipline - can take place.

"That's why it is fundamental strengthening post-degree studieson Sports Medicine," he added.

University of Colima informed through a communique that the opening of the event counted with the participation of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)delegate before the International Sports Medicine Federation Michel Rieu, and Costant Roux, president of the African Sports Medicine Society.

Also participated Alain Gardier, member of the Medical Committee of the International Olympic Committee.

In discussions participate representatives of universities fromArgentina, Belgium, Colombia and Cuba, as well as Mexico's state universities of Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Sinaloa and Yucatan, in addition to specialists from the National Politechnical Institute.
