Senior CPC Official Meets Cambodian Guests

Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with a Cambodian delegation led by Sim Ka, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the CPP Phnom Penh Municipal Committee.

Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with a Cambodian delegation led by Sim Ka, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the CPP Phnom Penh Municipal Committee.

Jia, also the secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee,exchanged views with Sim ka on Sino-Cambodian relations and on other issues of common concern.

The visit of the CPP delegation will enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two sides as well as the development of bilateral relations, Jia said.

The CPC attaches importance to developing friendly, cooperative,comprehensive and profound relations with the CPP, he said.

Sim Ka said the CPP will spare no efforts to develop and consolidate the traditional friendship between Cambodia and China.He expressed his wishes for full success with regard to the upcoming 16th CPC National Congress.

The Cambodian government and the CPP firmly oppose the "one country on each side" remarks and "Taiwan Independence." Cambodia will adhere to the "one-China" Principle and will not establish official relations with Taiwan, he said.

Jia also briefed the guests on the preparatory work for the 16th CPC National Congress as well as on the current political andeconomic situation of China.
